Dressage Stars Out in Force

AUSTRALIA'S dressage riders are preparing to show the country what they are made of when they compete in this year's Performance Sales International Dressage and Jumping with The Stars.

The event will be held from tomorrow to Saturday at the Werribee National Equestrian Centre where 200 horses will compete in the coveted Australian young horse championships, young jumping horse championships, Wagner's Prix St Georges Cup, grand prix and the grand prix freestyle events. read more

Canada's Ashley Holzer & Pop Art Win Grand Prix for Saturday Night Musical Freestyle at WEF Dressage Classic CDI-W
WELLINGTON, Fla., Mar. 12 - Already assured of a trip to the FEI World Cup Final in Las Vegas, Canada's Ashley Holzer took advantage of a last chance to ride her Pop Art under the lights by winning the Grand Prix for the musical freestyle at the WEF Dressage Classic CDI-W Thursday. Holzer, who lives in New York and Wellington, scored 72.511 percent to take first place in the final FEI World Cup class before the Las Vegas Final April 15-19. "I love showing at WEF," Holzer said. Considerations in Retraining Thoroughbred Racehorses For Dressage

Dressage is an equestrian sport and art that involves a series of movements to create a balanced and ride-able horse. The first writings of dressage date back to Xenophon around 400 BC. Dressage today has evolved into a highly competitive sport with expensive, well bred horses competing for titles worldwide. When most people consider a suitable dressage mount, a warmblood or warmblood cross is the first choice. However, off track Thoroughbreds (OTTBs) make willing, suitable dressage partners.
