Germany disbands show jumping, dressage and eventing teams

Germany has disbanded all its national dressage, show jumping and eventing teams, and suspended show jumper Ludger Beerbaum from competition, in the wake of further suggestions of doping and medication of horses.
And the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) has called for the suspension of the former secretary general of the German equestrian federation — Deutsche Reilterliche Verinigung — Hanfried Haring from the FEI bureau. read more from Horse and Hound.co.uk

Brett Harbery and Victory Salute win Sydney CD1 Hamilton Island FEI Grand Prix Freestyle and Grand Prix Tour

High art and haute ecole combined to produce arguably the best ever Grand Prix Freestyle night at the Sydney CDI. Always popular the gala Saturday evening was sold out weeks before the competition. Surprise guest, Gavin Lockley from Tenors Undercover, turned dressage fans in to opera buffs with his wonderful rendition of some of opera's greatest hits, including, the Toreador Song from Carmen and Nessun Dorma from Turandot. Originally Lockley was introduced as Rolf Klimke, the opera singing son of the great dressage master, Reiner Klimke, complete with German accent. Lockley a great entertainer as well as singer, had the crowd enchanted. read more

Equestrian Australia Launches the New 2009 Dressage Tests

The Equestrian Australia Dressage Tests for Preliminary through to Advanced levels and Explanatory Notes are now available.
They have been a long time coming but at last they are here. These tests are quite interesting and challenging and follow the principles of the Training Scale at each level. They introduce new movements such as leg yielding at Novice, renvers at Elementary and half turn on the haunches at Elementary & Medium.
The new tests will become effective from 1 July 2009 and will remain in place until December 2013. read more
